Hear what our tenants have to say about their experience at Huxham Barns

Sungift Solar

We came to look at the site to advise on solar as part of the original development but liked the look of what was being proposed and ended up taking initially one unit but as our business grew, we rented four.

It was a combination of the amazing location, the attention to detail (keep an eye out for the light switches) and the beautiful outside areas. These were the best landlords we had ever had by far, always there to help and the premises are so well looked after.

We couldn’t recommend it highly enough, we only moved due to requiring further space otherwise we would still be there!

The Card Company

When we first came to look at our office at Huxham Barns, we said yes straight away. We loved the setting, the character of the place and just knew it would be a really nice place to work. It’s turned out to be exactly that. The offices and grounds are really well managed and looked after, and if we ever need anything it’s dealt with quickly and easily.

There’s also a lovely relaxed atmosphere across the barns. You get to know the other businesses and there’s a real sense of community, without everyone being in each other’s pockets. We are really happy here and genuinely enjoy coming to work at Huxham Barns.

It’s a bit different from your average office, and I think that’s exactly what makes it such a great place to be.

Pavis Consultancy

I rent a unit at Huxham Barns for two main reasons. As solo business owner, it’s important to me to have a dedicated workspace that’s separate from home. I also wanted a sense of community — to be surrounded by other small businesses doing interesting things. It’s motivating and inspiring, and it makes working for yourself or remotely feel less isolating. I also wanted to work somewhere beautiful, so Huxham Barns really ticks all of those boxes for me.

I never have to worry about parking or commuting traffic.

I really like the sense of community. Even though we’re all running very different businesses, we share a lot of the same joys and tribulations that come with running a small or growing business. The location is also really convenient and easy for me to get to, but what makes the biggest difference is the setting. I work in tech and AI, so I spend most of my day on a computer, collaborating with people via Zoom and thinking about things that can be very abstract and intangible. Being surrounded by green hills, nature and cows is a really nice contrast. It helps me stay grounded. It’s also brilliant having access to spaces like the orchard. If you want to run an event or bring people together, being able to do that in such a beautiful setting is a real bonus.

Farms for City Children

Huxham Barns was a perfect choice for our head office space. We were drawn to the modern high quality space and the peaceful, yet accessible, location. The dog friendly nature of the site, along with beautiful outdoor space in the orchard, just a few steps from our office door, are very much appreciated by all staff, also allowing us to build relationships and a sense of community with a really varied range of other small businesses on site.

We have enjoyed excellent and friendly support from our landlord, making it possible for us to personalise our space and to negotiate changes to the number of units we occupy. The site, including communal areas, is always kept very clean and tidy and the digital connectivity is superb.

Classical Chinese Medicine

I wanted to find a long-term venue that provided my patients with a quiet, relaxing environment, easy parking, and a ground-floor disabled W/C, all within reach of the city of Exeter.  I also wanted to be working in a place which was peaceful, had excellent light and where the working spaces were a little bit special - no cheap strip lights, peeling-paint or ageing decor! The entire experience is fantastic and working alongside other, ethical local businesses is great -everyone at the site is friendly, and people look out for each other, have a laugh and organise various group events.

The whole site is well cared for - from the business spaces themselves, to the outside communal areas, toilets, parking and surrounding orchard and fields. What is also great, is that Jim and Janie really do care about their tenants - if there’s something we need to tweak, change or borrow, they are superbly accommodating!

Find and Foster

We have been running our business from Huxham Barns for over 10 years and have only the highest praise for both the location and the landlords. It is a beautiful place to work with a wonderful community of people and a very relaxed, friendly feel. All of the buildings, facilities and surrounding area are maintained to an exceptional standard.

The landlords could not be more accommodating and friendly, nothing is too much trouble, and they manage the offices and their tenants with a very personal touch.

Koah Hair & Wellness

I’ve always wanted to find a space for my hair studio that had a peaceful relaxed feel, in the countryside but still easy to get into Exeter, around other independent businesses, but also had a dream of finding a barn. After a long time searching and viewing different places, I eventually came across Huxham Barns and I feel so lucky and grateful I did!

It’s the perfect space that ticks each box, each and every unit is beautiful and have clearly been created with so much attention and care. The owners Jim and Janie are the loveliest welcoming people and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. I honestly feel so grateful for finding this space and Jim and Janie, and I feel so at home here. It's the perfect retreat space for my clients and me too.

If you're looking for a space, then this is your sign that you might just have found the right place.

Beevive

We chose Huxham Barns as the home for Beevive because we run a studio designing and producing bee-related products, and the natural surroundings feel inherently aligned with what we do. It’s an inspiring, homely place to work, while also giving us the operational space we need to design, assemble and run the business.

One of the things we value most is being able to step straight out into nature. We often eat lunch together with our team on the benches outside, and having the freedom to go for a walk during a break is brilliant for clearing our heads or coming up with new ideas. The shower facilities are also a big plus for those of us who run or cycle to work, and despite feeling rural, we’re still really close to the centre of Exeter whenever we need to head into the city.

There’s also a great sense of community at Huxham Barns. We’re surrounded by other friendly businesses, everyone looks out for one another, and there’s a shared sense of looking after and taking pride in the space. We’ve enjoyed yoga events, BBQs and live music here, as well as hosting events of our own. For us, it strikes a rare balance: it feels peaceful and connected to nature, while still being a practical and sociable place to run and grow a business. It feels very much like home for Beevive.
